The Toll of Arthritis
One in three adult Americans -- about 70 million -- has arthritis or another chronic joint condition, according to 2001 statistics (the latest available) from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. At least half of all people who suffer from these conditions are younger than 65. You can reduce your pain and disability by maintaining a healthful weight and being active.
