Classes for Expectant Parents
Check your local hospital, and your health plan, for classes on childbirth and infant care. Here are some typical classes:
Lamaze Classes: A breathing technique used to avoid anesthesia during labor.
Breastfeeding: Often taught by a certified lactation consultant, this class prepares the new parents with the breastfeeding skills necessary to give their baby a good head start in life.
Baby Care: Gives expectant parents the skills and confidence to care for their new arrival.
Sibling Class: This class helps brother or sister become familiar with their new role.
Infant/Child CPR : The American Heart Association offers this class.
Lactation Support Group: For breastfeeding moms.
La Leche League: For breastfeeding moms.
